Like any home improvement project, though, there are a few tips before getting started that will always make the job easier. Now, you are ready to get started.

The first step of installing your stair baseboard (aka skirtboard) is to mark the skirtboard. Next, determine your cut angles. There are a couple of ways to do this, so choosing the option you are most comfortable with is advised. Also, don’t forget to mark your transition cut, where the baseboard ends. After you cut your skirtboard, it is time to install it. Depending on what type of material you are working with will influence your options, but this is also a preference that is up to the installer. That’s it. A little sanding and fishing work if you want that polished and professional touch, and you’re done.
