5 Things Not to Forget to Recycle

Grand rapids waste disposal

There is without a doubt, too much garbage in the world. In a lifetime, the average American will throw away about 600 times the amount of his or her weight in garbage waste, and generates over four pounds of trash daily. No one likes to have trash around them, so it is important to practice good recycling habits. Confused about what is good to put in your recycling bins and what is not allowed? Read on for a full explanation.

Aluminium

This material is found in many things including soda cans and pots and pans. It is 100% recyclable, meaning it can be recycled over and over again. So, the next time you are having a party make sure to set up a bin just for juice and soda cans to make sure they don’t end up in the trash!

Plastic Bottles

Plastic bottles are everywhere, and they are ending up in our oceans, lakes, and rivers. Manufacturing plastic bottles out of recycled material ends up saving about two thirds of resources than if they were new. So, think about the fish and make sure to put all those juice, water, and coffee cups in the recycling bin! Also, investing in a reusable metal or plastic bottle will help cut down on waste while saving you money as well!

Cardboard

Consumers use cardboard for many things, and we have all relished in receiving a big cardboard box from the mail man when expecting a package. Just recycling one ton of cardboard will save nine cubic yards of landfill space. So the next time the post office brings you a package, break it down and recycle it!

Paper

This includes newspaper, magazines, advertisements, work memos, anything that is printed on paper can be recycled! Paper makes up one third of the waste in the United States so as tempting as it may be to crush your notes up and toss them in the garbage can, change directions and toss it in the recycling bin!

Computers

Getting a new computer? Make sure to properly dispose of your computer to either a non-profit, old family member or recycling center to make sure the parts are all recycled properly.
