There are many advantages of vinyl siding for your home. You can even install it yourself by following these tips from the House Improvements YouTube channel.
If you do not have a lot of tools or cannot do simple DIY tasks, skip doing this yourself and hire vinyl siding installation services to save you time and money in the long run.
You do not want to nail the siding down too tight, since the siding will need to expand and contract with temperature fluctuations.
Nailing them too tight will cause the siding to buckle and break. Nail in the center of the siding slots. Use two inch galvanized roofing nails.
Install the longer pieces first around windows and doors. Smaller pieces are much easier to adjust.
Don’t install the corner posts above the roof line so that they are tight against the shingles. There needs to be a little bit of space to let water run through, otherwise, water will pool and can cause leaks to your roof.
Made a mistake? You can easily remove a piece of siding with a zip tool. Fit the tool’s blade under the locking edge and pull down. Slide the tool along locks to release them. You can now remove the nails.
